As cloistered Dominican nuns, we live the traditional monastic observances. To learn about the various aspects of Dominican monastic life, click on the words below to see photos and read texts from the Book of the Constitutions of the Nuns of the Order of Preachers (LCM).

There are four pillars of Dominican spirituality: prayer, study, common life, and mission.

PRAYER is centered around the Mass, Eucharistic adoration, the Liturgy of the Hours, the Rosary, and periods of private prayer.

STUDY is concerned primarily with Sacred Scripture and the teachings of the Fathers and great Church theologians, with a special emphasis on St. Thomas Aquinas and other Dominicans.

COMMON LIFE means that we live “with one mind and heart”, intent upon serving God and our neighbor. We strive to be like St. Dominic, of whom it was said, “No one was ever more community minded, no one more joyous.”

MISSION for Dominicans means preaching. As nuns of the Order of Preachers, we preach through our lives, our prayer, and through other means of communication in keeping with our cloistered apostolate.
