Our Constitutions tell us that the Prioress should arrange for lectures or conferences to be given with appropriate frequency. This is a wonderful opportunity for the entire community to learn together, and later perhaps discuss what they have learned at other times. At our monastery, we have had lectures on Scripture, Thomism, moral theology, the ars moriende (the art of dying well), Church history, sacred music, patristics, the Church and the Internet, and many more. We also have talks on nutrition, mental health, good communication, and other topics of this kind which help us all to live together more easily.
