Come be a part of our Dominican family tree!
As cloistered nuns of the Order of Preachers, our unity comes from our profession to God and to blessed Mary and to blessed Dominic, and to the Master of the Dominican Order. We hold all things in common, and we follow the Rule of St. Augustine, which concludes with this prayer for all who are obedient to his rule.
"The Lord grant that you may observe all these precepts ina spirit of charity as lovers of spiritual beauty, giving forth the good odor of Christ in the holiness of your lives; not as slaves living under the law but as women living in freedom under grace."
As a Dominican nun, no one will expect you to be a cookie cut from the same cutter as everyone else. It is our hope that you will bring your own unique gifts, talents, and ideas, and use these to make yourself part of the beautiful kaleidoscope that is Dominican monastic life.
What do you do all day long? We pray for the salvation of the whole world. We meet together seven times a day to pray in the chapel as a community, and we also gather together for daily Mass. Additionally, each sister has two periods of meditation and her own time of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament every day. And, of course, we have our various work assignments around the house, including cleaning, cooking, answering letters and making enrollments, packing and mailing altar breads, among many other things. We also dedicate some time every day to study. And we also make time for fun and laughter during our periods of recreation.
What do we ask of you? You need to be a single woman between the ages of 20 and 38, a Catholic in good standing with the Church, and good physical and mental health. You also need at least two years of college or work experience. Check out the stages of a Dominican vocation here
